Override Neon's MirrorBrain archive mirror location?

Hello,

I believe Neon uses the MirrorBrain system to connect you to a nearby archive mirror and in my case (I'm in India) it connects me to a Singapore mirror (cdn77.com) but my ISP has poor speeds to Singapore.

A while back it seemed to traceroute to a mirror in Germany (hetzner.de) which was not great but OK and much better than the Singapore mirror, even though it's physically farther away.

Is there any way for me to force the "archive.neon.kde.org" mirror to pick the Europe mirror(s) or am I stuck with MirrorBrain's auto selection?

Thanks,
Vishal

Ah, I just found this link - lets see if the origin is of any use: https://community.kde.org/Neon/Builder#The_Archive

Please don't use the origin server. It's the backend which CDN77 fetches from.

Neon doesn't use Mirrorbrain, it relies on the CDN77 content distribution network to provide for serving of it's repositories.
In this case, CDN77 have correctly selected the geographically closest mirror to you as CDN77 don't have a mirror in India.

I would suggest filing a complaint with your ISP if you are experiencing poor speeds as ultimately they are in control of this.

I figured using the origin server is not a good idea - impolite :-)

I'll try to get my ISP to look into the singapore speed issue, thanks!

So apparently speed tests to Singapore servers on speedtest.net are OK - no speed issues here - I get around 40-50 mbps peak which is expected on my connection.

Also, downloading off Ubuntu's Singapore archive hostname like "sg.archive.ubuntu.com" seems to be OK-ish - it is about 10 mbps here.

But downloading packages off "archive.neon.kde.org" is very slowwww - it appears to never cross 1 mbps. If I wget a large package (like kwin-dbg) directly it hits 15-20 mbps for a brief moment then again settles down to under 1-2 mbps.

Any ideas what might be the problem? Or is it just me and my ISP again?

I don't mean to annoy, it's just that I'm running the Neon dev unstable edition (and with testing repo) and the frequent and large-ish package updates being slow, well, annoys me :-)
