Yesterday I have found that the last updates in both User and Developers Unstable editions of Neon propose to uninstall the gdebi-kde package. :( The reason was in update of some python libraries (python3-pyqt4, python3-pyqt5, python3-sip, python-qt4-dbus, python3-dbus.mainloop.pyqt5). Currently I just marked these libraries as hold. So, the question is: can we hope that gdebi-kde will be updated in nearest future to work with these updated packages or that future versions of these packages will be updated to work with current version of gdebi-kde? If the answer is no, then can I just keep these packages in held state to prevent gdebi-kde from breaking?

Use QApt instead. It's a native application on KDE:

I know about it, but I don't like it. And I suppose, that it should be matter of user's free choice rather then obligatory one.

gdebi is not something Neon packages or maintains, as it is not created or maintained by KDE. It is something not in Neon's control, really.

But Neon is based on Ubuntu, and gdebi-kde is a standard Ubuntu software, using the standard python functions. If some standard commonly used software breaks after python upgrade, it means that the upgrade is not completely correct.

In essence, my question is: what this unfortunate python upgrade is aimed for, and can I just safely skip it?
