Noticed a few other topic mentioning black screens, but still have this problem.

Running KDE neon User Edition 5.10.1, release: 16.04 with autologin and proprietary NVIDIA drivers. Logging out leads to black screen with no blinking cursor or mouse. During the transition to logout you get a hdmi handshake followed by a black screen at 1080p 60hz. Ctrl-Alt-F2, F4, etc... brings up tty. Ctrl-Alt-F7 doesn't seem to do anything. Commands like sudo shutdown -h now or poweroff don't bring up any logoff text or errors that are visible to me during shutdown. Renamed .Xathority in ~home and rebooted and still logout to black screen.

Running Neon for about a year and pretty much leave the defaults alone. Not a power user, not sure what to try next.
