Continuing issue with MuseScore.

Fri Jun 16, 2017 8:20 am
I just tried in the hope that the newest version of KDE Neon would bring a solution to the MuseScore issue, to no avail:
Code: Select all
$ sudo apt install musescore
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Starting pkgProblemResolver with broken count: 1
Starting 2 pkgProblemResolver with broken count: 1
Investigating (0) musescore [ amd64 ] < none -> 2.0.2+dfsg-2ubuntu0.1 > ( universe/sound )
Broken musescore:amd64 Depends on libportaudio2 [ amd64 ] < none -> 19+svn20140130-1build1 > ( libs ) (>= 19+svn20101113)

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 musescore : Depends: qtbase-abi-5-5-1
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

I find it odd that MuseScore developers and users were not / are not made aware of the "design" decisions made by the KDE Neon team. I love KDE Neon, but I will not be using it until a solution is found that will enable me to use the notation editors and DAWs that are a part of my workflow. It would be a different story if I was using orphanware, but I am using programs that are in continuous development.

As a temporarily solution you could try the musescore appimage, it's not as good as the native musescore but it works. By the way, I hope that developers will solve this dependency problem too.
