I grasp the debate about package update and related announcements:
viewtopic.php?t=140631 Does use of pkcon apply only to package updates, should package installation or remove use apt command? "pkcon install" does not install recommended packages. It is necessary to use "apt install". Is this correct? reference: pkcon | Ubuntu Manual http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xen ... con.1.html

From This Post the usage is:
"refresh" is analogous to "update" as it refreshes the package lists "update" is analogous to "full-upgrade" From This Post it looks like pkcon is preferred over the correct usage of apt as there is much less confusion. I rather like this choice. Note that sudo is not required here as it will prompt you for your password when needed, just is if you were using Discover or Muon. It also has a tidy and prettier (imo) terminal output ![]()

Yup. I operated with it and knew about it. Even if you manipulate pkcon with sudo, it works properly. That is a habit of using apt.

Actually, my routine used to be:
1. Sudo apt update, which brings up the updater icon in systray (if there are any updates) then 2. Use Discover for updating the system Yeah, noticed pkcon refresh and pkcon update works with or without sudo. ![]()
