until you get a better reply.....
my guess is because you elected to use the LTS and the repo may have accidently used the user repo, the package manager sees the user release? so can you post the output to thesecommands pls
IMHO the neon list must show lts while I have user....because I downloaded the user edition 2) looking at the repo with a web browser I see 5.86 and 7 http://archive.neon.kde.org/user/lts/po ... a-desktop/ 3) I am now thinking it might relate to the plymouth splash system
reveal? mine shows on boot up a splash showing kde neon 5.10.2 |

@aus9
Thanks. When I reinstalled from neon user lts 20170524-00:43 before reinstalling from aforementioned image, I recall it upgraded to 5.8.7 just fine. Fortunately, I still have that image so I'll try again with that one. I'm utterly puzzled. Currently, I'm on Mint's latest KDE beta. Works decently but I like bare bone/vanilla OSs, like Neon.

Perhaps I have not been clear enough. The latest LTS (neon-userltsedition-20170622-1127-amd64) displayed 5.8.6 during boot-up before and after fully updating it, while lts 20170524-00:43 image, which I had installed previously, displayed 5.8.7 on first boot. Perhaps the issue has been fixed. Don't know cause after that switched back to user in which I noticed no improvement as to the application dashboard bug. Anyways, I shall try again, and again, and again ...

No I knew you were saying you saw something that said you are booting up a particular version of KDE neon that was not the current installed vesion I just manually changed contents of /usr/share/plymouth/themes/text.plymouth to see if on reboot I could change the version on the screen. Nope. |
