Hello, my fellow KDE users!
![]() I have a problem. When I leave my computer alone for a while, say 15 minutes in order to take a shower, the screen looks and the screen saver starts. I'm totally fine with that, but the problem is that I cannot log in to my KDE user account after the screen has locked and I have been logged out. When I type my password, it says "Failed authentication", "Log in failed" or something in that manner. Now, I'm 100 % sure that I have typed the correct password. I have been able to restart my computer by pressing [ctrl]+[alt]+[2], opening the command line, logging in and using
As you can imagine, it's quite annoying to have to restart my computer every 15 minutes of inactivity. A kind of "solution" I have found to this to edit the setting System Settings/Workspace/Desktop Behavior/Screen Locking. There, I crank up the screen locking timeout to 99 minutes, the maximum. However, I feel like there should be another solution available out there. Another solution is to deactivate screen locking completely, but that makes it kind of pointless to have the function there in the first place. I'm using the OS KDE Neon 5.10 (64 bit) with the KDE version Plasma 5.10.2 on an Aspire-5742G laptop. My KDE framework version is 5.32.0 and I am using the kernel version 4.8.0-56-generic. My mother has the same problem on her computer, so I know this error is not entirely unique to my computer. I want to use the screen locking function provided by the KDE Desktop, but I have not been able to use it properly, since I cannot lock in to my user account after the screen having locked. Please, help! Do you, guys, have any idea on how I can make the screen lockings function work properly? |

There was a similar issue posted recently on Google+ and there someone replied to try toggling numlock before entering your password - in case it has a number in it
