Reinstalled from this neon-userltsedition-20170628-0018-amd64.iso image

Code: Select all
SHA256: d17bfb2fa87abbc9ea8c07138f8c6582d36ece797321661a14617abd8c7e6604

Plasma version is 5.8.7 but for whatever reason, it says 5.8.6 (underneath the Neon logo) on start up. For the life of me, I don't know why.

I had the same problem. I rectified it by editing a couple of files. /usr/share/plymouth/themes/breeze-text/breeze-text.plymouth. And /usr/share/plymouth/themes/breeze.script. Changing the 5.8.6 to 5.8.7. Then running:
Code: Select all
sudo update-grub && sudo update-initramfs -u

@waynes Thanks. My best guess is it had been an oversight.

The correct 5.8.7 version was built the other day (it had not before for some odd reason)

https://build.neon.kde.org/view/4%20rel ... ymouth/11/

however, that new build does not seem to have appeared published in the archive, despite that being green all the way.

I will try to remember to poke the main Neon -devs tomorrow to work out why.

I wonder whether in this neon user lts 20170705-00:44 build the issue has been corrected or not. I shall know soon.

Nope, as it would still have plymouth-theme-breeze 5.8.6-0neon+16.04+build8

@acheronuk Thanks. The question remains: why not?

A question for Jonathan or Harald I think. The build logs think it was uploaded ok, so something odd going on in their aptly/publishing itself maybe.

@acheronuk

Definitely odd. I wish they communicated better with the user base. As for those pkcon commands, they could have told us how to use apt, as we're probably not dumb (sudo apt update and sudo apt full-upgrade that is). Just my candid opinion, if I may.

If you can, get on IRC and come into #kde-neon on irc.freenode.net. Weekdays 9-5 UK/West Europe time are best bets.

Have a chat with the Neon team about the issues you are concerned about.

#kde-neon on Freenode IRC and on the KDE neon mailing list. Or maybe they do.
