plasmashell memory issue in 5.10.4

Sat Jul 22, 2017 2:24 pm
Hi all
I'm having problems with neon 5.10.4
Plasmashell seems to eat up all shared memory until eventually swap is used up and the system totally hangs
I have screenshots of ksysguard over time if that'll help

The more programs I have open the faster the hang happens, but it eventually happens anyway with nothing running but the kde desktop (and ksysguard)

The zip file contains screenshots of ksysguard over about 40 minutes
https://www.dropbox.com/s/13zhke8f85f1g ... e.zip?dl=0

Shared memory usage of plasmashell goes up and up until eventually swap memory fills up and the whole system crashes

I'm on a Dell Latitude E5540 i5 with 8GB of ram, Intel graphics

This has been happening consistently for the last couple of days

I've installed an XFCE session for the moment, which makes the machine usable, but would appreciate the help in getting it resolved properly

Thanks

I second this.

Also have the same problem... Eats up memory, hogs the whole system and i have to run
"killall plasmashell; kstart plasmashell;", but that's only a temporary solution, until it starts eating memory again...

If you need some debug info or something, will be glad to help... This is starting to annoy me.

Cheers

Seems you were right... Since I disabled it, memory is stable/normal, although plasmashell is on 30% CPU...Dunno if it is a good thing.
Nevertheless, thank you very much for the heads up!! :)

I'll disable it for now, but I hope it will be fixed in the following iterations...
