Hello Neon users & builders,
Long story short, the version available from Ubuntu (as it lacks from Neon's LTS repo) is 5.1.6.2. That version is pretty antiquated and it doesn't carry over the breeze. So I had to download the .deb from Libre Office. Current version is 5.3.4.2. Breeze (everything) got carried over splendidly. ![]() Now, a nice office suite is very important piece for an everyday user. I'd even include it in the .iso but hey. I understand that Neon's focus is on the "regular user" and not the LTS (maybe I'm wrong; don't know). Please builders, let us have it packaged in the LTS repo. ![]() Yep. https://www.linux.com/learn/kde-neon-of ... d-platform

I think KDE Neon's aim is to showcase the latest Neon
![]() If you want, try installing via a ppa for versions newer than available in the standard repos.

Another 'sort of' option is to run a newer completely self-contained LibreOffice app image - found at appimage.org.

+1. I quite forgot about that. Along similar lines, there are snaps and flatpaks. I doubt very much that there's need to include LibreOffice in the LTS iso, if that's what OP means by "Neon LTS repo". |

Thanks guys.
Well, I don't have much experience with Libre, cause I either used emesoffice from Mikerosoft :0 or WPS from Kingsoft. Since WPS won't even install on my plasma version anymore, I thought like "hey I'll check Libre; just how bad can it be?) To my surprise, it turns out to be wonderful. With the Breeze icons, of course (although I know one can theme it in several ways, I'd rather stick with Breeze just to have a consistent look throughout the whole OS (Neon). Moroverer, I think Breeze is the nicest theme ever, but hey. So, I have further questions. The OS is Neon LTS. Should I go for 1. LibreOffice 5.2.7 (2017-05-09) - Still Branch 2. LibreOffice 5.3.4 (2017-06-26) - Fresh Branch (https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/) 3. https://www.libreoffice.org/download/snap/ 4. https://www.libreoffice.org/download/flatpak/ Which would be more advantageous? Or secure? I'd rather avoid ppas.

Oh, I also need something Skype-like. Been contemplating Linphone. One can check it on GitHub. They have downloadable binaries on their homepage. Could build it from source but it might not be worth the trouble. What do you think? Should blend with the desktop nicely, as it's built with the Qt toolkit. Don't know.

I'm new to snappies but I already mistrust them. Same for appimages.
