Hi all,

First off, thank you. Thanks to all the KDE community for putting such effort into this distribution. It has taken away all the pain that upgrades in Fedora has given me for the past few years :)

One thing that I noticed shortly after installing KDE Neon onto my laptop is that on my home display (LG 25UM57-P[1]) which is supposed to run on a resolution of 2560x1080 the option to select such this resolution is not available in the "Displays" section of KDE. The maximum one is 1920x1080, which corresponds to the output from xrandr:

My laptop has an Intel graphics card so I thought installing xserver-xorg-video-intel would be a good idea, however the dependencies seem broken:
Code: Select all

A)

I would do 2 things:

1.) Disconnect external Monitors and repeat xrandr.
Are there any changes in the list of resolutions?

2.) Install twm or cwm and do Your xrandr-tests from there.
Because: The KDE Desktop changes/blocks/overrides the
behaviour of xrandr.

That's not a bad thing. But if You want to know, what's going on,
use a terminal window from within a minimal Window Manager (twm, cwm).
You can even do testing with a terminal window without window manager.
Details to be found in "man xinit".

B)
Even if Your wanted resolution does not appear in the xrandr list:
You could enter it as an xrandr option, nonetheless.
Simply do it and see what happens.

Option B worked like a charm. Thanks a lot! In case this happens to anybody else:
Code: Select all
alejandro@alejandro-ThinkPad-T440s:~$ cvt 2560 1080 60
# 2560x1080 59.98 Hz (CVT) hsync: 67.17 kHz; pclk: 230.00 MHz
Modeline "2560x1080_60.00"  230.00  2560 2720 2992 3424  1080 1083 1093 1120 -hsync +vsync
alejandro@alejandro-ThinkPad-T440s:~$ sudo xrandr --newmode "2560x1080_60.00" 230.00  2560 2720 2992 3424  1080 1083 1093 1120 -hsync +vsync
alejandro@alejandro-ThinkPad-T440s:~$ sudo xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 2560x1080_60.00

Then I was able to select it via the KDE "Displays" menu.
