Hello guys nvidia drivers are causing rendering problems to me. I have tried to switch from Opengl2 3.1 and xRander but nothing changed.
Can it be caused by the new kernel not supporting nvidia drivers very well?

My kernel:

KDE Plasma version: 5.10.5

Everything works fine when i switch to intel drivers from Nvidia X Server Settings.
I have switched to the new kernel because i had wireless problems that keeps disconnecting. Now the wireless problem is solved but I have this issue with nvidia drivers.
I do not know if downgrading the kernel solves the problems, I will check it out.

but you did not tell what nvidia driver your using ,,,,,,the 384 driver is bad ,,,IF your using that downgrade to the 381

Driver version was 375.82.
I have tried to update to 381 but nothing changed.

I think I will have to wiat for plasma 5.11...

Had the same issue, one workaround is restarting sddm

# sudo systemctl restart sddm

but you have to do it every reboot, beware that this command logs you out immediately so keep that in mind.

Other solution is using bumblebee, that solved my problem. Hope that helps.

But if I remember correctly I did purge nvidia completely and installed it again then followed the guide. Also installed bumblebee from their testing ppa. All info can be found in the guide.

By the way, have you tried installing primus after installing bumblebee?

Then you can use "primusrun" instead of "optirun", I find primusrun more stable than optirun.

I am using an old gaming laptop with GTX 860m with latest 384.69 drivers from this ppa: https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

You can install kubuntu driver manager in kde neon to manage your drivers from that ppa.

After installing you can find driver manager in System Settings. Right now my system works fine, no screen tearing no artifacts. And my games perform more or less the same as using prime, maybe slightly worse but thats fair enough i guess.

Ok I have unsuccessfully tried to install bb....... But now after purging bb nvidia modules are not loading anymore instead nu is loaded. I have tried to blacklist nu but it is loaded anyway.
And yes bb = bumblebee and nu=nouveau because these f*cking names are impossible to write who f*cking chooses such names...

Sorry to hear that it did not work for you. I am new to linux myself and using optimus laptops with linux sometimes a bit problematic. I had broken my linux install on more than one occasion and had to start from scratch.

So, did you install nvidia driver from driver manager? Because for me it blocked novuveau driver automatically.

After purging the driver rebooting and reinstalling it worked... Not gonna install bb anymore I am happy with the trick you mentioned. Thanks very much for helping
