is the latest iso (15112017) faulty?

I downloaded the latest iso (15112017) yesterday and did a clean install.

When the p/c rebooted there was a grub error. Checked the 'checksum' and that was fine. Downloaded again and burnt another dvd - just in case something had gone wrong. Wiped the disk and installed again. Same grub error. Wiped the disk again and installed the previous iso and that installed fine (no grub errors). I then tried the latest iso on another p/c and got the same grub error.

Any ideas?

I see that a new iso image has been added this morning. I will give that a go tonight and hopefully the problem has been sorted.

I tried today's (16112017) iso and that has the same grub-efi error.

Thanks very much for posting.

The p/c is connected to the internet (a wired connection) during the install. Strange how this issue only seems to apply for the last two ISO snapshots, the previous snapshots installed fine.

The latest user edition ISO passed automatic quality control, so I doubt it's a problem with the ISO.

Many thanks for such a prompt response.

I will do a fresh d/l of the latest ISO and burn a DVD on a different p/c and give that a go.

Using a different p/c (HP Intel I4770) I downloaded the latest (16112017) kde neo user iso. Verified the download, checked the 'checksum' and burnt a dvd (including a 'burn verification' option) at a slow speed. Installed fine (no error messages). Rebooted and the same grub error.

I then tried the latest (15112017) kde neon dev stable iso. The same steps as above and the same grub error on rebooting.

Just to make sure that I wasn't going completely mad - I then installed the latest opensuse tumbleweed snapshot (16112017). This installed fine and no grub error on rebooting.

Then remembered that I had downloaded an earlier snapshot (07112017) of the stable dev version. Installed this and everything fine (no grub error).

I am assuming that neon use a similiar 'iso' system to opensuse for qa purposes (like OpenQA) so if there was a grub issue this would be picked up but I can't thing of anything else to try. Both the working and non-working (for me) snapshots have the same grub version (3-14). Am I missing something?

Yes. Neon images are built through a process called CI (Continuous Integration) and are put together by a machine called Jenkins. The model has its virtues but it also has its flaws. Jenkins build server is a dumb machine, not a human. Simple as that.

Did it also pass a human quality control? ;)

I'm sure you guys are doing the best possible job, so please take no offense.

Had the same issues doing a fresh install on my Lenovo Thinkpad T440s. Had to be online to install, then booted up to a pretty grub prompt. Was able to address the issue using the tried and true:
Code: Select all
mkdir efi

Code: Select all
sudo mount /dev/sda 1 efi/
(or whatever your efi boot partition is called)
Code: Select all
sudo cp efi/EFI neon/* efi/EFI/ubuntu/

Then all was good.

This is my first time with KDE Neon. Talk about a rough start.

Probably reopen https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383399 or file a new bug then.

I have the same issue:
A few days ago, I can install well with the same usb but with the version of the few days ago.
Today, I can't, I have the same issue after reboot.

This indications, when execute? In live usb, or in kde neon access with super grub2 disk, for example?

I can access to neon with super grub2 disk but I don't know where execute this steps...

Regards!
