Hi all,

I can't start KDE anymore, it hangs with a blackscreen and an arrow before even getting to twe login screen.

Using the console, I figured where the problem is:
Code: Select all
sddm-greeter[1080]: Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x50902) with this library (version 0x50903)

So, I assume the issue will be fixed when all relevant packages will have been upgraded to 5.9.3.

My question is: what is the right media to follow to know about such transition ahead and figure when it is safe to do the upgrade?

Usually, I upgrade the system frequently without much thought, assuming some may be security fixes.

Thanks in advance!

There is none that is practical to be followed by the so-called everyday user.

It's a rolling top on Xenial, so you're assuming the wrong thing. I think rolling is the perfect model but curated rolling not just rolling. I'm only aware of 1 case of a successfully curated rolling OS. Unfortunately, the Solus Project doesn't yet feature the Plasma desktop. Too bad.
