Can't Boot Into Neon After Clean Install

I have been struggling to get KDE Neon set up for awhile now. After my install finishes and I reboot I am greeted with a black screen. I generally use LVM+encryption, so I tried to enter my passphrase on the black screen as I've heard that can work, but sadly it did nothing. I have made sure on multiple occasions to remove "quiet splash" from the Live USB before booting into KDE to install. I have an Nvidia GPU, and also tried both nomodeset and nouveau.modeset=0 before booting into the Live USB and that hasn't helped either. I have tried an install without LVM or encryption and still get the black screen. My system uses UEFI, and when writing the Neon .iso to my USB I make sure to select UEFI (I mainly use Rufus to write .iso to USB, but have also tried Rosa). I have also tried to write the .iso using BIOS but still get a black screen. I don't have this issue with any other distro, only Neon. What do I need to do to get a working copy of Neon running on my system? Thanks.

There has recently been some problems with the KDE Neon ISO images. This has now been fixed so it might be sensible as a first step to download the latest iso snapshot (07122017) and trying again.

Gfielding, thank you for replying. I have tried using the .iso with the date you mentioned but no luck. This has been an ongoing issue for me since the end of November. Is there possibly another means of installing the user edition (not lts)?

For now ctrl+shift+f6, login as your user and startx, there is some kind of bug that session doesn't start.

Thanks Develu. Sadly that hasn't helped either.

If a build fails, then the iso is faulty, I guess. I wonder whether that caused your issue or not.

https://build.neon.kde.org/view/iso/job ... ion_amd64/
https://build.neon.kde.org/view/iso/job ... ion_amd64/

Should I understand a faulty iso makes it to https://neon.kde.org/download? Cause that's my understanding of it. For example, in my understanding, the LTS iso released December 7 and December 13 are faulty and the ones released November 22 and 29 are okay. So, I would appreciate someone knowledgeable shedding some light here.

I haven't been able to get any iso of neon working between November 20th and now, LTS or not.

Some KDE neon ISO images have a bug where it doesn't create grub properly. A simple fix is to boot through the KDE neon USB, open a terminal (Konsole) and type the following commands pressing Enter after each:

1) mkdir efi
2) sudo mount /dev/sda1 efi/
3) sudo cp efi/EFI/neon/* efi/EFI/ubuntu

Now close the terminal (Konsole) and reboot, now it should boot with no problem :)
