i've been trying to install qtcurve from source on the user edition but after a couple of days of headache i decided it would be quicker to install the developer stable as advised on reddit. I did this today but i can't figure why the look & feel and the desktop themes settings are both completely blank ?

Image

I do have some themeing in the screen shot because i copied my home folder over and i thought that might I have messed something up but I checked with a live stick and that is the same. How do i get the theme settings to work ?

On December 12, I see 2 builds https://build.neon.kde.org/view/iso/job ... ble_amd64/. Both seem to have failed. Might that be the cause? Seemingly, Jenkins pushes even failed builds to downloads. Or not?

so what do i do? just wait until the next update and see if it's any better?

While i was testing i also noticed you could not run dolphin as root at all by any means, dont know if this is by design or bug.

I think Neon should never delete the last successful build. Guess what. I happily downloaded and made several copies of the User LTS released on Dec 7. >:( Luckily, I have kept previous successful builds.

But maybe I'm just dumb. I'm sure someone more competent will provide a satisfactory answer.

I think your image is this https://build.neon.kde.org/view/iso/job ... 49/console one. :(

Nope, sorry, I don't have such an iso.

Unfortunately, I'm aware of no such archive. Just follow Jenkins build server. I think you'll have it on green pretty soon.

Also, I'm not very smart, so we're still waiting for an answer from someone more knowledgeable.

LOL, thats cool im still a pure noob and i've been at linux for what must be 2 years now but still just scratching the surface, however M$ is out of the question !

I was advised to try Fedora KDE as the next best up-to-date KDE distro, so i just tried it but didn't even get past the live stick cos of trackpad problems which seem to be ongoing >:( https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archive ... Y4AMRBHPT/ so i'll add that to the miriad of other distros iv been through so far :-/

Neon has come the closest to being workable if only qtcurve would work on user-stable i would be a happy bunny, o well i shall keep an eye on the releases of Dev-neon, maybe when its fixed i can just update the Dev-Neon iv already got installed and i wont have to do a new install but i don't know about that.

Anyhow thx.

first do ,,,,,
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get  dist-upgrade
to make sure you are fully upgraded .

then do a
Code: Select all
sudo apt install qml-module-org-kde-kcm

see if it works now ,,,the system settings.

if not you should find the missing kcm's in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kcms/

copy or link them all to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/

close then restart system settings ,,,,dose it work now ?

It was indeed the
qml-module-org-kde-kcm

It was not installed, its working as it should be now.

Thank you very much.

I triped across it when I had the same problem .

Opening the "systemsettings5" in a console gave the clue

"Error loading QML file.\n28: module \"org.kde.kcm\" is not installed\n"

then I did and "apt search" for org.kde.kcm and found the package ;)

I really thank you for this. You can't imagine how many hours I've spent searching, experimenting and reformating. This also happens with User Edition. Look & Feel and Desktop Theme were totally empty windows. And it had to happen now that for once in my life I decided not to migrate but have a clean install! :D :'(

After I checked if I was fully upgraded, the qml-module-org-kde-kcm installation worked like a candy bois! ;D
