Hello,
A today's system update (apt-get dist-upgrade) would remove the package kio-smtp. Is this a desired behavior or should you wait until the right package is available? My Neon system: Last dist-upgrade: 2017-12-13 18:36 Kernel: 4.10.0-42-generic KDE neon User Edition 5.11

I've just run the same update without any problems - and certainly not removing anything.
Have a look at the apt-get man page for info. 'apt-get check' will report any dependency errors that may have arisen. 'apt-get upgrade' is more cautious than 'dist-upgrade' so run it first - sort any errors. Then for for the full 'dist-upgrade' |

Actually it looks like it is in conflict with libkf5mailtransport5 package

I've removed it as suggested by a system update (on kde neon) and kmail stopped to send emails.
I've reinstalled it and kmail started again to send messages. There is no conflict with libkf5mailtransport5 package because I it was installed when I reinstalled kio-smtp |

The problem is solved. Today, the "apt-get dist-upgrade" has not removed anything and ran without a problem.
Thanks! |

So glad I found this topic.
Since recent update mail has refused to be sent, telling "failed to transport message. unable to create smtp job." Installing back kio-smtp fixed the problem. Thank you. |
