Hi,
I can't install wine 3 on KDE Neon User Edition 5.11. It seems that KDE Neon uses some newer libraries compared to Ubuntu LTS, so there are some dependency issues that I can't resolve. I followed the Ubuntu installation guide of wine (https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu), but the installation step doesn't work: https://pastebin.com/Cj86vVje I tried to resolve the issues by installing the missing packages, but at some point in order to 'resolve' some dependency issues apt want's to uninstall digikam and other programs that depend on a specific version of libpng. Any advice? |

neon is 64 bit only, and wine uses 32 bit. You have to try enabling multiarch on it, which will open up the 32 bit packages Wine is looking for.
Update your system, then try again. if you still have any missing deps, you'll have to install the :i386 version of the package.

I activated multi-arch (dpkg --add-architecture etc.), and I tried to install the missing i386 libs manually.
However,

I successfully installed wine 3.0 on a new install of Neon Stable User Edition (not the LTS) . . .
I followed Method 1 from here: https://www.askmetutorials.com/2018/01/install-uninstall-wine-30-stable-on.html It looked after all the 32bit stuff |

Have you tried starting a 64bit program with
I remember installing wine the same way as your link provides but my problem was that wine version 3 and after, couldn't run my 32bit client games because all wine versions were 64bit. Tricky thing is that you need to be careful with your wine version ( 32/64bit ) and game or program you are running ( 32/64bit ). |
