I want to report some small problems with plasma under Wayland.
This:

And another problem is that the global search bar(alt+tab) appears under my upper panel.
And also is there a way to get information about random crashes?

I have the same problems.

More problems:

-mouse settings not possible to access in settings because when I launch it just crashes.
-alt tab menu appears in top left corner and not in the center.
-alt tab cannot be customized because options are missing in settings menu.

I tried it today and don't even get that far. My screen just locks before the kde screen appears and I have to do a hard re-start.

jeremyfisher - loved you post it made me laugh!

I tried a wayland session again after removing the nvidia driver and it started fine.

Martin's recent blog post on the subject is (unfortunately) informative: https://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/ ... 7-edition/

tl;dr; there isn't support for wayland using the official nvidia drivers at this time.

Wayland is still very new and there are some issues that I imagine the developers quickly will find a solution to in upcoming versions of Neon. In KDE neon Plasma 5.12 I use Wayland login on several laptops, and when using such as Firefox and Gimp and multiple windows, and right-clicks and so on, there are sudden 'freezes of the mouse' (unrelated to Nvidia). A workaround that may be of value to mention here--perhaps it works with the Nvidia issue as well--is, when the mouse pointer doesn't move--to do this: click on the Super-button on the keyboard (the one with the windows on it). Click <ARROW-LEFT> and <ARROW-UP> and then <ENTER> when the menu says 'Leave'. Then, at the logout screen, click <ESC> (so that you don't log out). In my experience, this brings about a reset of the mouse and allows it to move again. If somebody knows where the code is for the Leave option, I expect they should be able to extract the exact command that resets the mouse and put it on the menu or, even better, to a hot-key. That would be a really smart workaround.
