Hey guys, made a whoopsie and now I need help fixing it. Basically I ran sudo apt autoremove and you can guess the rest. Luckily the system isn't dead (can still use it lol), but unfortunately I'm now missing some of the default packages that came installed with kde neon and settings are missing in the configuration panel. Just wonder how I could reinstall the default packages from the installer image or extract the package list to install the ones that I'm now missing.

Thanks in advance.

"sudo apt autoremove" should not bork your system. I run it all the time as part of my system cleaning.
The only time this may cause issues, is if you have tried removing something that is an integral part of KDE. Autoremoved items are only items that are no longer needed because usually you have uninstalled the parent program that relies on them.
So the questions are, how many & what type of packages where "autoremoved" & have you tried uninstalling a vital program that may have caused this to happen?

the package neon-desktop should pull in many if not all of the missing bits.

So unfortunately I actually ended up not being able to boot back again. I was in the middle of backing up all my data luckily anyway. However, as this isn't the first time that this has happened to me, I have my /home partitioned to a seperate one than / so I just reinstalled from the usb installer I made originally. I realize autoremove isn't supposed to bork your system, but somehow removing kodi did just that and I've had experiences of this happening before so lesson learned kids: Keep your /home partition separate from /.

I'll try to install neon-desktop the next time this happens though, thanks for the advice. I tried to do that with kded5 or whatever the package is but it didn't work and by the time I saw your message it was too late to try again.
