It's not working  Topic is solved

Sun Mar 04, 2018 6:38 pm
Hello Community,

First of all, my greatest respect for the cool project, that I just want to use now.

However, I have a problem:
I go to "Discover" and many apps, such as FileZilla, or Putty can not be downloaded.
Does anyone know the problem, or can help me?

Thank you in advance

You may need to be more specific. What exactly occurs when you try to install these? I just installed and ran both Filezilla and Putty from Discover with no problems.

Thank you for your quick reply.
I go to "Discover" and look in the search box FileZilla, then click on install, whereupon the text, after I entered my password, changed in the button to "Will be installed". Shortly thereafter, however, follows a pop-out with "blocking not possible", whatever that may mean.
My user has admin rights and I am over-mediated.

Although Discover works fine for me, other users have reported that it's buggy.
Personally I'd use Synaptic or Muon package managers to install any needed software. Much more stable.

The pop-up may not be from Discover. It sort of sounds like a firewall message or something of the sort, though I cannot be sure. Can you post a screen shot with this somewhere? I cannot find a reference to the message "blocking not possible" that even comes close to anything relevant to this situation.

Also, terminal output might help see where the problem is, and I don't think it is with Discover itself.

Try this in Konsole:

Code: Select all
sudo apt update
sudo apt install filezilla

Copy and post any error messages you get there
