Hi everyone,

I'm rather new to KDE neon, and happy with it so far. After the surprise to discover that rather few popular applications where available by default (LibreOffice missing for instance, but easily installable), I recently discovered that when inserting an audio CD into my DVD drive, KDE neon wasn't proposing any related action... (like Open with application X or Y)

When launching Sound Juicer, the program states that no audio CD was found... By comparing with Linux Mint 18.3, I quickly detected that package libcdio-cdda1 was missing and installing it did the trick as to Sound Juicer (and probably other audio programs).

But I'm still left with KDE not detecting an inserted audio CD... (or at least not proposing any related action)
Which packages are missing in your opinion? (provided installing some additional packages would be enough to solve that issue)

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Thanks fredhoud, but my issue is not about playing CDs (that's already solved), rather to get KDE suggest some actions when I insert an audio CD...
The funny thing is that KDE's integrated help for "Device Action" (see Device Actions system setting module) comes with a screenshot showing a configured action named "Play Audio CD using Dragon Player" for Optical Discs ;D
The only documentation about Device Actions I could find so far is https://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tu ... ce_Actions, but referring to KDE 4...
Are these instructions still valid with KDE 5?
Does anyone know about other documentations (or ready-to-use Device Action examples)?

*** SOLVED ***

Since Kubuntu 16.04 comes with a predefined device action for audio CDs, I just had to replicate the same configuration ;)

Here are screenshots of the magical configuration (French language, see my own translations below):

1. https://webcloud.zaclys.com/index.php/s/iXmk9qgmZvY2lxn
2. https://webcloud.zaclys.com/index.php/s/Z2QcNlzr5cetHLP
3. https://webcloud.zaclys.com/index.php/s/aUq7tTqDdGItx2l

English translations from French:

1. La totalité des propriétés contenues doit correspondre -> All properties must match
2.
Parameter Type: Property matching
Device Type: Storage Volume
Value Name: Ignored
Equals: "false"
3.
Parameter Type: Property matching
Device Type: Optical Disc
Value Name: Available Content
Contains: "Audio"

To sump up:

- install package libcdio-cdda1 if not already present (command to execute in a terminal: sudo apt install libcdio-cdda1).
- create a new Device Action for audio CDs as described above (handled by VLC in this example).
