Hey guys,

I was wondering if there is an estimation on when the "new" KDE Neon with Ubuntu 18.04 as base will be ready to use and if there's anything I can do/test to support.

Best wishes and thanks for the work :). I'm really happy with Neon!

From a Reddit discussion - https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/7 ... 4_release/

jriddell (3 months ago): "Yes it will, hopefully soon after 18.04 but we've not done this before so can't say for sure."

It'll probably come out after the official 18.04 release date. IIRC, KDE Neon User built on 16.04 was released a few weeks after 16.04. Ubuntu 18.04 has version 7.x of the GCC C/C++ compiler; Plasma, Frameworks and the Applications would probably have to rebuilt with them.

I do hope it comes out not long after the official 18.04 release. VLC 3.x can only be installed via a PPA on KDE Neon and, depending on what packages you have installed, could cause some breakage and conflicts.

Thanks man! Wasn't aware there is a subreddit :D.

Yeah, we're about to plan an ubuntu release party and this might be important to know. But sounds reasonable that it might take a few weeks. Worth the wait!
