ISO Image Writer bug

Fri Apr 27, 2018 5:52 pm
Hello,

ISO Image Writer is not working for me. I dowloaded kubuntu 18.04 iso, with the SHA256SUMS file and SHA256SUMS.gpg. Thous 3 files are in the same directory.
ISO Image Writer tests the file and detects it as a valid Kubuntu ISO. Next step, I click "Write", then "Clear Disk and Write Image", and then, I get this error message :

Code: Select all
Failed to open the image file: No such file or director

The 8Gb USB key is FAT32 formatted.

Do anybody know I'm doing wrong ??

Thank you

Sorry... I don't have that specific answer!
However I can add that I stopped using that--and similar tools over the years--because of any number of odd things that may occurred that should not have
I now use Etcher
It just works...!

Why are you choosing "Write" as well as "Clear Disk and Write Image"? If the usb stick is clean and preformatted to FAT32 then just choose "Write" as this will create a usable "live usb" from which you will have the option to install. By clicking "Clear Disk and Write Image" you are clearing the image just written (os.iso) and there is no image written to usb stick. The secondary option "Clear- Write" are useful if the stick has a previous image written to it and you wish to "Clear" the old image before the "Write" function. From the directory/folder where the image is downloaded you need to select the .iso file as the one to be written to the usb stick.

be noted. Etcher is only able to burn images to microSD card and USB. CD or DVD is out of range. If that was the case, you can use this free ISO burner instead.

Sometimes,Etcher doesn't help much most of the time.

Yep... that is kinda true!
However this forum is about KDE and specifically neon and your link for the best iso is for that other platform that has nothing to do with us... so while that maybe true for windoze, it isn't true nor valid in our context!
