Calamares on Neon User Edition...

Sun May 06, 2018 12:36 pm
When can we expect the Calamares installer on the Neon User edition? Is it mature enough?

There is a good possibility that since Neon uses the Ubuntu base the installer will stay Ubiquity unless Ubuntu changes things. The main focus of Neon is KDE on a stable Ubuntu base with minimal changes to the base. The less work the devs have to do with the base the more resources they can devote to KDE.

If your answer was right, why would Calamares be the default installer in the Neon Developer Edition?
So my point remains:
Is Calamares mature enough to start using in the User Edition?

If it was it'd be the default.

I've been hard at work getting all defects tracked and lots have been resolved in the last couple of months. Even so, there are still like 10 unresolved problems which are regressions compared to ubiquity.

Annoyed with bbcode since 1999.

I would rather wait a little longer and have Calamares in the first User Edition image based on Bionic.
