I'm running KDE Neon 16.04 on an Asus GL702VM laptop with Plasma 5.12.5...
The Meta (Super/Windows) key on my laptop no longer opens the applications menu/dashboard under my user account (works on other accounts). I recently switched to the Latte Dock as my default dock/panel, so I deleted the default panel. After doing that, the Meta key stopped working for opening the applications menu/dashboard. I know this is the case because when I added the default panel back, the Meta key started working again. It is weird that the default panel is required for this key to work properly. Why will it not work properly on its own? Also, when I try to set the Meta key as the keyboard shortcut under the Application Dashboard Settings, I'm not allowed to set the Meta key alone as the shortcut. I thought this was fixed with Plasma 5.8? |

Similar behavior was noted in viewtopic.php?f=225&t=152519
I also find it curious that triggering the application launcher is tied to which panel you use. However, at the very least there are instructions on the Latte Dock FAQ for setting up that shortcut.

THANK YOU! You are a lifesaver! Worked like a charm. Now I have the Meta key working with Latte Dock! |

I have a similar issue, where Alt+F1 works, but the meta key does not. However, I've found that this only happens when I use the toggle radio button, which is Fn+Home. Sometimes, it doesn't affect my meta key, but sometimes it does, and a relog fixes the issue. My best guess is that I'm mistakenly hitting Home instead of Fn+Home sometimes, and triggering the standard go-to-beginning-of-line function, which isn't a KDE shortcut as far as I can tell. Additionally, the radio button is not software defined either; I can't get the key combo to show up in a shortcut. I'm using a Dell XPS 13 9370, if it helps.
