Hi,

KDE Neon is probably my favourite Ubuntu derivative, most of the rest I see as rather pointless, but I find it bizarre that the git unstable edition uses x11 as the default session (if you choose the autologin, it's also the default option in the SDDM menu if you choose not to autologin). It's bizarre as aren't all new improvements made to KWin only going to affect Wayland sessions? I recall reading that releases after the 5.12.x series will have all their KWin improvements only in the Wayland session. Given that git unstable is presently providing developmental versions of what will become Plasma 5.13 it seems bizarre its default is still x11.

I realize this isn't a user support question per se, it's just me asking for you to indulge my curiosity.

Just so you know I do know how to get Neon to auto-log me into the Wayland session, namely by editing the
Code: Select all
Session=
line in /etc/sddm.conf from plasma to plasmawayland, I'm just wondering why it isn't the default for git unstable.

Thanks for your time,
Brenton
