Hi everyone,

After updating my laptop two days ago (just
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
and
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get upgrade
), my laptops log screen said it was broken and told me to go to the terminal and fix it using
Code: Select all
logictl unlock-session 2
. But going to the terminal didn't work and it refused to do anything.

After that rebooting my laptop it always fails. It just shows my cursor and a small bar in the upper left corner. Often I can't even move the cursor.

Going to the terminal using CTRL + ALT + F1 worked once but then froze. Now that also doesn't work.

I'm guessing the problem is still the lockscreen, but I don't know how to fix it since I can't even use the terminal.

I wish I could give more info, but I don't remember the version of KDE or the lockscreen.

apt upgrade is useless on neon https://neon.kde.org/faq#command-to-update

Annoyed with bbcode since 1999.

@ddrodt You should update as told by Harald or else use:

Code: Select all
sudo apt update

followed by

Code: Select all
sudo apt full-upgrade

Quite frankly, there's little (if any) benefit in

Code: Select all
sudo apt upgrade

... in Ubuntu-based systems and there's none whatsoever in Neon (like zero).

Can drop the "get" part altogether.

And I'm guessing the display server failed for whatever reason. Update correctly, and tell us if it happened again.

I cannot update using Discover. I tried using pkcon install discover.
When I run pkcon resolve discover the output is the following:
pkcon resolve discover
Resolviendo [=========================]
Cargando caché [=========================]
Instalado discover-2.1.2-7ubuntu1.amd64 (installed:ubuntu-xenial-universe) hardware identification system
Disponible discover-2.1.2-7ubuntu1.i386 (ubuntu-xenial-universe) hardware identification system

But I could not execute by ALT+F2 at all.
So, I decided to run sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade for the ubuntu-xenial packages and also pkcon refresh and pkcon update today.
Then, after running the apt commands I executed the two pkcon commands and the message was the following:
pkcon refresh
Actualizando el caché [=========================]
Cargando caché [=========================]
Descargando paquetes [=========================]
Ejecutando [=========================]
Finalizado [=========================]
Activado http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/ppa/ubuntu xenial InRelease
Activado http://ar.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial InRelease
jochoa@jochoapc:~$ pkcon update
Obteniendo actualizaciones [=========================]
Finalizado [=========================]
No hay paquetes que necesiten actualizarse a versiones más recientes.

There were no new packages to update running pkcon.
The questions are the following:
Should I remove discover and reinstall it?
Should I use only pkcon from now on?

Regards,
