Hello,
After 6 years Apple, I'm back into Linux. Before Apple I was a Linux user (between 1999 - 2011 I have used Suse, Freespire, Kubuntu, Ubuntu and Mint). I have first installed Kubuntu 18.04 on my Imac (mid 2011). Alltough it runs well, it gaves me problems with booting. I then decided to give Neon a try. So far no problems with booting. KDE/Plasma runs like hell on this Imac (i5/8Gb RAM). Most needed software is installed. The only thing I can't find is Amarok?? Is it possible to install in KDE Neon? One other thing I need is a converter for my music. I have more than 20000 files in ALAC. I want them to convert in Flac. All help is welcome. Sorry for the English, it isn't my native language. |

It is in the Discover program!
Or you can type: sudo apt install amarok |

You can use Discover package manager, "sudo apt install amarok" command, or "sudo pkcon install amarok". Sound Converter is one of the most popular programs for audio conversion or here is another method that might suit your needs. https://askubuntu.com/questions/123405/how-to-convert-alac-to-flac

I can't find it in Discover, that's why I asked it. Also no luck with command line. Do I have to add some repos first? I see that Backends are not installed in Discover. Don't know if it is save to do so? |

How did you install Neon?
Didn't you use the latest ISO, " neon-useredition-20180705-1025-amd64.iso"? https://files.kde.org/neon/images/neon- ... n/current/ Also did you check the shasum for integrity of the download? |

And above all, are the repositories enabled? If in doubt, post the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list

Okay, now Amarok is installed. There was one repo not enabled. Also soundconverter is installed, but I cannot convert m4a (ALAC) to flac with it, but I can in terminal.. but don't know how to do it for more maps in one time? Another problem is energy saving, dimming of the screen. It's on 30 minutes, but after 5 minutes not using the PC, the screen jumps to the login screen. I can't change that, no matter what I try. Any idea? |

Energy saving, locking of the screen is solved. The only thing left is, converting Alac to Flac with Sound converter. It only works in terminal. |

Are you talking about the screen locks after 5 minutes? If so that's the default.
Go to System settings > Desktop Behavior > Screen Locking, and uncheck the lock screen automatically after 5 minutes. |

@jbeeckaert Glad to read you've managed to sort it out. Amarok has not yet been ported to Qt5. You might wanna try Elisa, which is Qt5.
![]() https://community.kde.org/Elisa This thread is a soup of everything. Try to break it down into different subjects and please don't use generic titles like "New again! New to KDE Neon." That would make our lives so much easier. Cheers. ![]()
