What purpose does that package serve?
It is described like that:
I know what 'apport' from ubuntu is though and it's not installed in Neon by default but neither is 'neon-apport'. I have my theories but want to be sure. Can anyone explain what 'neon-apport' is, please?

I'm on a Debian-Ubuntu system. So I use APT. I don't care for Packagekit. Also, this thread is not about package management. My question is: what's the benefit of installing 'neon-apport'? Will it prevent 'apport' from accidentally contaminating the system? It sure is undesired. ![]()

I betcha it is there for iso building purposes, there is no physical content to the package, just dependency list, etc. Packages like this keep some unneeded Ubuntu things off the iso as they are "replacements" for them, but they are removed once they are not needed. Similar to how the live image installer uninstalls things not needed after it has finished its thing.
Purely an educated guess, not really knowing the build process used. You can poke around at the contents - deb files can be opened with ark, for example. Packages and source (neon-masks): http://archive.neon.kde.org/user/pool/m ... eon-masks/ It doesn't make things any clearer, mind you ![]()
