Just got this one for a change (was watching while it was being built) ;)
Code: Select all

In my preliminary tests had good results. The testing framework generated good results as well. Get it while it's hot. I recommend it highly. Cheers.

The Bionic version is not complete yet, and people are working on it:

If you care about it, please join the testing effort and the other thread:

Suggestion for the bionic builds: Don't leave out qapt-deb-installer, KDE's equivalent of Gdebi. Please make sure all ISOs have it. Much appreciated in advance. :)

Suggestion:
Make a standardized check list. We can do better than the framework.
1. Check this
2. Check that
3. ...
4. ...

I installed this afternoon the "neon-devedition-gitstable-20180920-1137-amd64.iso". BIONIC.

In the installer, when I chase format my new ext4 partition the installer crash but so I put again the installer and this time it works fine.

This KDE neon works fine without error by now.

Thanks.

mrbumpy409 wrote:Just a warning to anybody who uses Wine: Wine versions from the official Wine PPA cannot be installed in KDE neon with Bionic base. This is because the neon repository ships a newer version of libblkid1 which exists as 64-bit only. Wine from the official PPA requires both 64 and 32-bit versions of libblkid1 as dependencies.

The workaround I use is to manually download and install the Cosmic version of libblkid1, and pin the package version to keep it from auto-updating to the neon version. It's possible this might cause issues down the road, though. You can find the packages here: https://packages.ubuntu.com/cosmic/libblkid1

Make sure to install both amd64 and i386 versions (double-click should install them using QApt) and use Muon to pin the package version. Also, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Thanks! After mulling over this for almost a week, your suggestion actually helped me to get wine up and running again after the 18.04 update.

Please, please, please (devs) fix this for normal use. Wine is important to a whole lot of Linux users.

During installation on UEFI, a fully encrypted system (using LVM) fails to make an EFI and bios boot partition on GPT. This results in an unbootable system. I had to manually create the partitions and logical volumes myself, and install on that.

Oops!

I meant to post this here in this thread, but I made a new one instead. I'm new to this forum, so it didn't strike me as odd that I had to make a title for a reply, as some of my forums do work that way.

Other than the issue of libblkid1 having a newer version in x86_64 but not in i386 (thus making me had to wreck my brain to figure it out when trying to install Wine), I only noticed that the initial boot time seemed to be much longer than in xenial. I'm talking about the neon logo that appears before SDDM/Login. Then again I haven't really checked the logs to see what was slowing it down.

For anyone else with slow boot time, I solved mine with this solution: https://askubuntu.com/a/1034952/847385.

Are there images that are not based on Bionic? There aren't anymore. Consider closure. :)

Today I turned on my notebook, however I forgot to connect it to the outlet power. As consequence, my notebook got suspended (suspend to RAM memory) when battery was depleted. When I plugged it to the outlet power and pressed the power button of the notebook, I could not get to configure the screen brightness. So I had to reboot the notebook to get the brightness control back again. Weird. Anyway, thanks for the great Interface, KDE rocks! Keep going.

Mouse advanced settings have disappeared.

After system updates, the mouse advanced tab in settings has disappeared.
