After latest updates to Bionic LTS version, About System is showing I'm running "Ubuntu 5.12". It is also showing Ubuntu in the Grub Menu.
Other than that still running smooth. |

Ubuntu updated their base files package with became new than Neon's version where Neon set their name. Hopefully there is a Neon rebuild with a higher version number on the way. |

Just a warning to anybody who uses Wine: Wine versions from the official Wine PPA cannot be installed in KDE neon with Bionic base. This is because the neon repository ships a newer version of libblkid1 which exists as 64-bit only. Wine from the official PPA requires both 64 and 32-bit versions of libblkid1 as dependencies.
The workaround I use is to manually download and install the Cosmic version of libblkid1, and pin the package version to keep it from auto-updating to the neon version. It's possible this might cause issues down the road, though. You can find the packages here: https://packages.ubuntu.com/cosmic/libblkid1 Make sure to install both amd64 and i386 versions (double-click should install them using QApt) and use Muon to pin the package version. Also, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! |

Can't set google chrome as default browser
Fresh install from the 2018.09.06 image + apt updates. Problem with Google Chrome which keeps prompting to be set as the default browser. Despite agreeing to make chrome the default it prompts the next time. |

That's not how you do it. Go to System Settings > Applications > Web Browser, and then choose Chromium Web Browser as for default.

I just installed the 20180906 Bionic on my second hard drive and no problem or crash. Did you check the shasum?
The only thing I've noticed it says "Ubuntu 5.13" instead of Kdeneon under system information. Why is that, any ideas? |

I just noticed something new. I installed Binoic on my second hard drive, and I'm noticing a much longer boot time. KDE neon 16.04 xenial 5.13 takes about 14 seconds to boot up. As my second hard drive with Bionic takes about 24 seconds to boot up. Any room for improvement!

Drop box quit working. I installed all my programs including Dropbox, and everything was working flawlessly. After a few restart during the day the Drobox icon has a red x and quit syncing. I restarted several time, and can't make the Dropbox to work anymore. I have also Kubuntu 18.04 on another desktop, and there is no problem with Dropbox syncing there. I hope this gets fixed soon, because the Drop box suppose to stop working on the Neon 16.04 in November. I get a pop up message every time I turn on my computer on that.
Has anyone run into this with Bionic? ![]() More clarification: When you restart the computer, you see the green check mark of the Dropbox trying start, but it quits after a second and turns into a red x. The Dropbox is enabled at startup, and when you type "dropbox start -i" in the Konsole, it tells you Dropbox is already running but actually it is not.. ![]() I have pinpointed the problem I think! I use two monitor. I re-installed bionic on a single monitor with all my programs again. Several reboots, and no problem. As soon as I attached the second monitor, the Dropbox quit working. So the problem perhaps has to do with "Display & Monitor settings? ![]()

Read up a few posts. A new release of ubuntu's base-files replaced Neon's fork ones. Neon need to rebuild their fork with a higher version number so that gets installed again. |

Nice to know that you need a new version. I have installed the 06-Sep-2018 iso and everything is working fine (except the ubuntu 5.13 bug but this is not crucial). To me this build is stable enough to use it on my production computer |

I resolved the Dropbox syncing issue. The problem I think was key authentication with Chromium, since it was set as my default browser. I had copied Chromium from .config of my regular computer to the Bionic hard drive, and replaced it in the “Chromium” in the “.config”. The reason, it keeps all my bookmarks without exporting, and importing. A BIG no no, and that’s how I found out. As soon as I replaced Chromium in the .config, it quit working.
Then I reinstalled it fresh, with leaving the Firefox as the default browser, and imported my bookmarks to Chromium, and no problem syncing! How ever, there are some issues with dual monitor. When you start the computer sometimes you see the login screen on both monitors, and sometimes just on the right hand side monitor. When you see the login screen on the right monitor, and when you type, you don’t see characters being typed. When it boots up the screen in front of you is totally blacked-out, which has your system tray icons, so you're totally stuck. I have to press the “Alt+Space”, and type reboot, or poweroff. Then try to start again. I never have this issue with Neon 16.04 xenial. Also, it takes twice as long to boot up in comparison to 16.04! |
