Problem copying a music CD with K3b

Thu Aug 09, 2018 6:44 pm
I am trying to make a copy of a music CD with K3b. The music is copied from the source CD but when I put the blank CD in the drive there is an error message:

cdrecord has no permission to open device

What do I need to change?

Using kde neon user version, plasma 5.13.4, K3b 17.12.3

Thanks very much.

Just in case anyone else has the same problem.

It was the cdrtools package that was causing the problem. I replaced this with the xenial deb and it solved the issue.

Maybe
Code: Select all
sudo apt install wodim
instead. (Sorry, not on Neon at the moment so I can't verify.)

Thanks for your post.

I followed your advice and installed wodim (which removed cdrecord) but came up across the same error message. So I reinstalled cdrecord (which in turn uninstalled wodim).

The solution I found
sudo chmod 4711 /usr/bin/wodim
sudo chmod 4711 /usr/bin/cdrdao

How Much I See Plasma is in Version 5.14.4; Do you generally do the update. woid is installed with me and I did not specifically insalate it.
I have to be very careful when I'm on these topics and apply the advice given on these topics. chmod is not for playing
