Hello!

I have a kde neon on two machines. I'm trying to install some packages. Namely "kubuntu-driver-manager" and "ppa-purge"

On one machine I just do `sudo apt install kubuntu-driver-manager ppa-purge` and this works fine, but on the other machine those packages are not found. `kubuntu-driver-manager` isn't found at all and `ppa-purge` "is referred to by another package". Does anyone know how is this possible? `kubuntu-driver-manager` should be in universe and I do have universe enabled.

Here's some terminal outputs:

Code: Select all
$ sudo apt install kubuntu-driver-manager
[sudo] password for mono:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package kubuntu-driver-manager

Code: Select all
$ sudo apt install ppa-purge
[sudo] password for mono:
Sorry, try again.
[sudo] password for mono:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package ppa-purge is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'ppa-purge' has no installation candidate

Code: Select all
$ sudo add-apt-repository universe
[sudo] password for mono:
'universe' distribution component is already enabled for all sources.

have you run apt-update first, to refresh the package lists? This should be done regularly, even as often as every time you want to install something, as things can easily get out of date.

The error you have:
Package ppa-purge is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

hints at your repos being out of sync, which is probably not uncommon, as we are using both Ubuntu and Neon sources for software.

Yes I did run apt-get update multiple times. I always do. I also ran pkcon refresh.

I do not know, I have no trouble with either package on my three Neon systems.
Perhaps changing the Ubuntu server to a different one , or seeing if your sources.list entries are OK might help, looking for any differences between the working and non-working configurations.

HI, i found this with the following command:
sudo apt-cache search kubuntu-driver-manager

kubuntu-driver-manager - Driver Manager for Kubuntu
kubuntu-driver-manager-dbg - Driver Manager for Kubuntu -- debug symbols

sudo apt-cache search ppa-purge
ppa-purge - disables a PPA and reverts to official packages

Could you tell me why you cannot install this packages?
