It works fine under Ubuntu 18.04, but doesn't work under Neon 18.04. Here is what I get:

Code: Select all

Ubuntu is version 18.04.1 LTS. Neon is still test version based on 18.04, No final version based on Ubuntu 18.04

But people are still able to use it, and report issues.

The Qt version in Neon is newer than what is in the Ubuntu repos, which is likely the cause here, as well as the PPA with the daily builds of freecad may not like Neon's Qt packages or versioning.
You might try using a different PPA with a stable release, or use the stock Ubuntu packages for it.
If these do not work, Freecad make an appimage for their current release:

Looks like pyside2 builds with qtdeclarative private headers, so it will depend the the ABI version it was built with, making it not installable with any other version such as that in Neon.

The only real way around that would be to rebuild against neon repos/versions.

Neon does not support packages/software that are not KDE, and explicitly states that other software may not work or be installable, or may stop working/installing at any point. This is one of those cases.

Neon is based on Ubuntu, a Bad Decision

Hi,
You shoud use appimage from the freecad wiki posted before.
First, you must remove any previous installation on your system.

More information and instructions here

The base distribution has nothing to do with the issue presented here.
