I guess this is a question for the moderators and/or someone on the dev team...
I am curious as to: (1) the user stats of this forum, i.e. how many users indicate that their OS is Neon and (2) outside of this Neon forum--as I'm sure there could be those not as registered members--do we know how many Neon installations are out there? Thanks
KDE neon 5.20 - Plasma 5.20.5 - Frameworks 5.78 - Qt 5.15.2 - Kernel 5.4.0-65

With regards to #2, I don't think it's possible to know. You can track downloads but that does not give you a count of installations or how long any installations are kept, let alone, how many installations from the same download.

I don't think there is a tool available to look up this number, sorry :/
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

the overall GNU/Linux market share is at 1,5 % tops, from more then 1 billion devices(including windows, macos, and others), KDE neon is not among top 10 distros, yet.
It is on 14th place on distrowatch right now. On first place is....MANJARO And over 40 % of new Manjaro downloads are KDE. According to distrowatch KDE has about 500 hits a day, thats about 180.000 a year, and Manjaro almost 4000 a day, thats 1,400,000 hits a year. hope this gives a clue. ![]() |

Distrowatch is an entirely pointless metric of anything but how many visists a page on distrowatch has. Using it to infer anything about usage or even active popularity (as opposed to interest popularity) would be folly. It's inherently biased and can be easily gamed by generating traffic through putting distrowatch links all over the place.

As with most linux metrics it's hard to get accurate numbers. That said we have a fairly accurate sense of where we are in terms of home users: there are at least 15 thousand and more which we know that we do not know about. Actively used systems that is, not done installations.

I can only imagine how difficult it is get those metrics but hey... thank you nonetheless for that info! Maybe someday our GPS will integrate such with an OS layer that all computers could ping an OS pin... wouldn't that be telling?
