You may want to check your Software Sources settings, under the Updates tab (accessible via Discover --> Settings). Under the tab called Updates the setting for Release upgrade for "Show new distribution releases" should be "Long term support releases only".

I couldn't find a tab in Discover Settings but was able to install Ubuntu's "software and updates" and switch it off from there. Thanks for starting the thread. I was getting tired of looking at the upgrade prompt.
