I will try to give as much information as i can since i do really would like to use linux/kde-neon on my new laptop
![]() Hardware: ASUS GL504GM CPU: intel i7 8750H GPU: GTX1060 (6GB GDDR5) disk: NVMe SSD (the laptop support the boot from here) (it is formatted as GPT) So i received my new computer, I changed the hard disk, then I upgraded the BIOS (version 304) and installed windows 10 in UEFI mode. I tested it and everything was perfectly fine, so time for linux! here there is a scheme of my partitions: seen from windows https://i.postimg.cc/vHDzZkbv/partizioni2.jpg and from a live with xubunu+gparted https://i.postimg.cc/9MF9NwfB/partizioni1.jpg I was going to install KDE neon on the 220Gb free I flashed a usb drive with the lastest neon useredition (9 november 2018) using etcher from my old xubuntu laptop I disabled the secure boot an changed the boot priority and i started kde-neon, this shown up ![]() but the start up continue and later it stuck here during start up and i had to hard shut down my pc at this point ![]() ![]() I tried to change the usb drive and the same problem occurred, then i tried xubuntu on the first usb and it worked (even if i didn't tried to install it) under suggestion of a friend on the grub boot i pressed 'e' changed to and added it worked, someway! This is a video showing the grub settings: https://streamable.com/dj3l9 and here a video of the start up which shows only one error: https://streamable.com/wmzem the resolution was stuck on 800x600 and i didn't have any way to change it (i tired some tutorial online but none worked) anyway i thought "come one i will try to install it anyway and solve all these problems later" so i gone for the installation on the ssd the first strange things was that kde neon was asking me for a OEM installation ![]() here there is the complete syslog: https://mega.nz/#!EKhTgSqR!QXeEn_jNPP7U ... FMsRl1NOiM since it seems that it could be something related to the GPU/driver (?) here i put all the information i thought you could find useful: https://mega.nz/#!AS5DjALT!ea6hmrSFNO8H5T5BtSzFO_EApYrA77C96oj0w9Cs0pg I am not very experienced with GNU/linux but i will try to give all the info to everyone who would like to help |
