Hi all

I've browsed actually many forums already so I decided to ask the community maybe someone had the same issue.

So: I've a xps 15 - 9570 with secure boot off, AHCI mode enabled , uEFI.

I've downloaded the image from the website and created a boot stick using Rosa ( also from the website)
Unfortunately if I boot up and hit F12 to enter the boot menu, I can choose the USB device as a boot option.
If I boot from the stick... nothing happens... black screen with a static underscore in the top left.
Using Legacy Boot options, I can enter the setup and also install.. unfortunately useless because after restarting no boot device is found.

The strange thing, Ubuntu 18.04. was no issue to boot using uEFI and also installing it. I was actually using Ubuntu 18.04. without any issues.

So is there any thing I can do? is there something missing?

I had some problem with a XPS 15 9560. Tried a lot of different dists. Some would not boot, some booted but could not log in. The dist that did work was Linux Mint. Try Linux Mint and see if you get the same problem. Unfortunately, Linux Mint is ditching KDE.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Yeah this is quite annoying I mean I can go with Ubuntu.. that worked quite well.. but I really wanted to go with KDE Neon because of the full KDE experience...
so sad ..

I don't think you will miss much without KDE Neon. KDE Neon is, if I understand correctly, a Ubuntu with KDE. Try Kubuntu (if that works) and you will get close enough. I find it strange that XPS 15 work so bad with Linux when XPS 13 is available with Linux preinstalled from Dell. I think that the problem is with the GFX, but that is just a guess. XPS has 2 GFX. Dunno if XPS 13 also has that.

I know this is a bit late, but just found out a solution. I was having the same problem, with the blank screen and an underscore on a Medion Akoya, but Ubuntu and derivatives and Antergos seemed to work just fine.
Apparently the problem is in the EFI files from the KDE Neon iso. With the program Isomaster, I created a neon iso just substituting the EFI folder with the one from Kubuntu 18.04.1 ( my guess is that it would work with the EFI from any bootable distro) and I was able to boot it. I haven't tried to install it yet, but I was able to log into the desktop. Hope it helps

Same situation here and your solution works. I have used EFI files from Kubuntu 19.10 beta with KDEneon ISO image "neon-user-20190919-1119" on Acer notebook Swift 1 SF114-32. Thanks for the tip!
