Hello there,
I'm rather new to Linux desktop ( had Debian for server for a while ) and wanted to try KDE Neon. My system is AMD Ryzen 5 2400G ( therefore Vega 11 Onboard graphics ) Asus B450M-A LG 34UM69 Ultra Wide monitor ( 2560 x 1080 ) When I tried to install from usb stick, I get splash logo then a blank screen after a while a warning about IOMMU perf counter and then screen goes all blank and no progress. I searched for a solution but all ones are after installing ( via grub options etc ) which I couldn't manage yet. There are fair number of people here on this forum having similar issue , I think it would be nice if someone helps for " integrating " Vega drivers to install or have a custom ISO etc. or simply a solution letting people to install Neon. Thanks in advance PS : I also tried installing Debian-stable but had a problem with screen getting scrambled but it has an " excuse " of having ancient kernel. |

Hi,
I think whether you can search this on the browser and find some useful solutions. IOMMU perf counter Please, also take a look at this post. https://forum.manjaro.org/t/amd-vi-unab ... er/56777/5 |

Neon is on 4.15 kernel and your Ryzen needs later than that. Phoronix have a few articles but I think 4.17 is where it gets good enough support. Take a look at this article and see what else you can find on phoronix:

As per today (2019-03-15), trying to install the last stable https://files.kde.org/neon/images/neon- ... -amd64.iso via an usb stick (on Usb2 or Usb3 port, same result), it's impossible to me.
My conf is: - AMD Ryzen 2400g - MSI B450M Pro-Vdh V2 with BIOS 7A38v85 (latest while i'm writing. it's available since 2019-03-11) - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 X 8 GB), DDR4, 3200 MHz, C16 XMP 2.0 (using XMP Profile 2 at 3200) - WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD M.2 (500 GB) Getting same error as http://image.ibb.co/igiT3y/Capture.png After that it will never boot. Stuck on black screen. I did try tons of times, tons of reboots (and disabling the iommu stuff via bios)... but no way. About other threads everywhere (reddit and distros' forums), it seems the cause is the kernel: stuck on 4.15.0-46-generic as @robgriff444 pointed out. Is there anything we can do to manage this? Can we - in any way - put a new kernel (let's say 4.19.x) in the iso, and then make the usb stick from that iso itself? |

If I remember correctly,
there's a kernel boot parameter named 'noacpi'. Then, the kernel will do the probing itself, and not use the firmware-tables of the machine's builtin data. (But I didn't look it up in the kernel's documentation. Just a thought…) |
