So I built a mining rig containing, among other components, six Sapphire Nitro Radeon RX 480s. It used to run stock Bionic, which ran Claymore with absolutely no problems, until I found out that Neon is based on Bionic. First I tried adding the Neon repositories to that install, but it broke as a result, so I decided to start from scratch. I did have an issue getting that previous install up and running but managed to resolve that rather easily, and afterward it started running without any problems. So, I thought, "If upstream Bionic was easy, then maybe Bionic-based Neon is too."
Uh, not so fast: After installing AMDGPU-Pro drivers (which did smoothly install, but not before I modified the amdgpu-install script to work around the issue of hardcoded distro names), I tried setting up Claymore, and that's where everything took a turn for the worse:
I'm not sure what ABI issues Neon has that upstream Bionic does not that might be causing this, but this is definitely a big problem. |
