Ryzen 2400G APU is still quite unstable on Linux, even on latest kernel and mesa.
After reporting bugs and waiting for ~6 months I am thinking of buying some cheap Nvidia card to deal with this problem.

I have to conclude the same. I've done all the things i can think of, it still crashes at least twice each day, in ways that allude to deep problems in the system - one program crashes, and the rest immediately become unstable. Rebooting helps, but doesn't solve the problem.

I hear Lenovo are working on making Linux run better on their laptops, and since they sell machines with the 2400G, I have some hope they'll fix some of this mess.

And to add my two cents to the other confirms... no, neon is not normally unstable--i.e. for the user edition--and that your context--that I hope is resolved by now--was more likely related to that hardware...

Thank you for your comment abury. Unfortunately, the system is still unstable under Linux.

I experienced the same thing..in fact, it seemed that KDE in general caused my system to crash semi-randomly. Running other desktop environs seems to not trigger the problem, though I'm not 100% sure on that, but true so far (day or two).
I found it to carry through SparkyLinux, Manjaro, and Neon. On the first two, other desktops didn't show instability on my system. On neon, I didn't try any other.

It probably has to do with your GPU, specially if you have Nvida! You can try Antergos which is based on Arch, and it is the second best choice in my opinion.

Actually no, I have an Radeon RX 550X and I've been completely crash free on Windows, Solus Budgie, and Manjaro Enlightenment. Due to three different distros with KDE running with frequent crashing, I have to say it's some KDE component. I only moved from Solus because I really liked some features of the Kwin/Plasma, but for sake of completeness, I tried at least a day on each crashing KDE distro with another DE and had no issues.

I'm using the 2400G APU, no discrete GPU. Also, I am currently running Manjaro KDE, which is based on Arch, and is not significantly more stable than Neon.

However, tweaking memory settings in the bios combined with disabling C6 States as described in this thread does seem to have made the system if not rock solid, then at least somewhat more stable; I am down to a single crash per day on average, from around 5.

I am also on a Ryzen chip, this may be the commonality.
Amd Ryzen 5 1600 specifically. I googled and found the unofficial threads about problems with Ryzen cpus in various distributions about idle states. Does that mean that seemingly only KDE gets to idle? (kind of a strange concept for me)
