I was noticing that the Kinfocenter does not say what the current KDE Applications version on the system. ie. Version 18.12.1
It has the plasma, frame works, QT, kernel versions... but no Applications version. Just thought it would be handy to have all that info in one place.

Which application out of the 100s in a full KDE Applications release should be parsed to provide the number for there?
While many distros provide an entire apps release in one go, this is not always the case. For example Debian often have a mix of versions depending on whether the latest version actually had any significant code changes or not, and staying at the previous version if there is no point effectively just rebuilding the same source with a higher version number; or if developer time has not allowed a full update. Frameworks and Plasma have internal version dependencies, so tend to be packaged as a whole release, so that is not an issue there. e.g. plasmashell reported version is likely to be the version of all or the critical plasma components. |
