Hey guys, so I recently installed kde neon on a lenovo ideapad 15-abr, and I had a problem where I tested a splashscreen and it kinda broke kde. So I went to restart plasma and coming from linux mint 19 I tried

plasmashell --replace

and It didn't really work. I then restarted the machine and when I booted it I realized it had kept my open applications which I thought was cool, but then I rebooted again later on and It keeps on opening the programs I had open at the time of the crash which is really annoying because theres about six and I have to close them all every time. Did I do this with the plasmashell --replace and is there a way to fix it (I'm not having the problem with the crashing anymore). Thanks!

System Settings / Startup and Shutdown / Desktop Session / On Login - probably the Restore previous session option is selected. You should be able to close the programs you don't want, log off (it should save the current session state), log back on and those closed programs shouldn't start. If they do, then something in the saved session state is messed up. I've seen this not quite work right in Plasma 4 (Linux Mint 17.3 and earlier), but it mostly restores my session. I haven't use Plasma 5 enough to notice this same problem.

If the log out didn't save properly, you could try selecting the On Login option to Start with an empty session, log out and log back in (the session should be blank), start the programs you want, change the option back to Restore previous session, log out and log back in and see if it saved properly. I don't know how the Restore manually saved session option works, or how a session is manually saved.

Never mind, I updated my kernel to 4.19 because older versions don't suspend right with my laptop and the problem fixed itself! Thanks for your help, I'll be sure to come back if I have any more problems.
