Hi, I need your help because my Firefox don't install extensions.
I have KDE neon 5.15.1 and Firefox 65.0
I am new in KDE neon, previously I used Kubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Also in Kubuntu, the extension plasma-browser-integration is not possible to install
because at the request for permission, to click on ADD has no effect.
The Firefox in the neon-useredition-20190221-0531-amd64.iso Live DVD works fine
so I installed the plasma-browser-integration extension and copied the .mozilla directory
on my /home/username directory.
The plasma-browser-integration extension works fine but no other extensions is
possible to install!!! Then, I downloaded from Mozilla, Firefox 65.0.1 and installed it
in /opt, started it and... Don't install any extension, always when I click on ADD
Only the themes is possible to install.
Other problem: Firefox at every start request to be the preferred browser because lost
my previous click on "make default".
All useful suggestions are very appreciated!!!!
Thank you so much for all your help!!!!

Probably,

wrong file-permissions on
Your manually-copied .mozilla directory.

Test:
Rename it.
Start Firefox.
Install any extension.

Hi, Thank you for your help.
Unfortunately nothing has changed!
I deleted .mozilla and purged all Firefox and files,
than installed a new Firefox.
Again Firefox don't install any extension!

Because:

1/2) It's installed

Code: Select all
$ apt search ^plasma-browser-integration$
plasma-browser-integration/bionic,now 5.15.1-0xneon+18.04+bionic+build19 amd64 [installed,automatic]

2/2) neon-desktop recommends it:
Code: Select all
$ aptitude why plasma-browser-integration
i   neon-desktop Recommends plasma-browser-integration

You could/should try:

$ sudo pkcon install neon-desktop

Maybe, this will solve other possible problems, too.

Hi, after installing KDE neon 5.15.1 I searched for neon software in
synaptic and installed the package neon-all 4+p18.04+git20190 and
so also neon-desktop is installed.
Searching neon software i found the plasma-browser-integration,
the software, not the Firefox extension, and installed it.
But the software plasma-browser-integration requires to
install the Firefox Extension with the same name.
But not only plasma-browser-integration, all Extensions are
not possible to install on Firefox.
Thank you for your efforts to help me!

Other things to check:

1/2)

$ firefox --help | grep Profile

--ProfileManager Start with ProfileManager.

Create new profile and test again.

2/2)

Create new user account, and test from there.

Hi, nothing changed also with this.
It is a very strange problem. Also a new installation on /opt,
with a new .mozilla directory has the same problem!!!!
As soon as possible I make a complete reinstall of the entire
system, KDE neon and software.
Thank you for your patience in helping me!!!

Not the recommended way to install Firefox but it works for me. I download the Firefox tarball and extract it into a folder I created in my Home directory. I then uninstall and purge the version provided by the distro. For the menu shortcut I right click the menu button and chose Edit Applications, create a menu item Firefox and enter the path to Firefox within the folder it was extracted to. This way I have a "vanilla" Firefox installation (no distro "tweaking" if it breaks I fix it) and I get the updates/releases when Mozilla posts them not the distro's team. Plasma integration and all extensions work well for me.

Hi, the problem is almost resolved!
Also installing in /home the Firewall tarball seems not to work well,
but I discovered that if in place of click on Add i press Alt-A on
the keyboard, the extension is installed well.
I think this is a problem due to the fact that my computer has
only a not expandable 2 GB of RAM.
Thank you so much for all your patience and help!!!
