Hey guys
I would like to know if there is any indication on when to reboot the system after package updates. I'm asking this becase sometimes I've experienced some strange glitches, application crashes etc. after I updated packages. Is there a way to know or should I just restart everytime, to be sure. Usually you get a clear message when a reboot is needed. Else, glitches can be probably solved simply by logging out of Plasma and in again.
I very rarely reboot, but I do log out and back in again more often.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thank you for your reply.
This is weird ... Because I've never seen a notification when kernel was upgraded, for example. Regards Armando |

I guess it depends on the settings of your distribution, in Kubuntu I get notified when a reboot is needed. Maybe ask your distribution on how to get these notifications?

I've stumbled upon the same problem recently and was just looking for some variants to resolve the issue. Thanks for the suggestions though, it helped!

Using KDE Neon, found it best of all distros with KDE. Used many others in the past. Regards Armando |

technically speaking it is not a distro, call it a technical preview of what KDE offers. Moving the post to the Neon subforum.
FWIW: if you see spam, don't quote it but click the report button at the top right of the post, else it just makes it worse ![]()

Coincidentally I did some updates yesterday and for the first time for ages the system asked me to reboot so that they could take effect.
