UNetBootin for KDEneon?

Sat Mar 30, 2019 5:08 pm
Hello

I think to beginn at Zero to install my KDEneon. There is too much to repair and I am used to restart at scrath. My question: is there a way to do the basic installation with UNetBootin? And if so, how do I do it. In my newest UnNetBootin application on the Kubuntu 14.04 I have is no mention of KDEneo, contrara to Kubuntu 18.04 and 18.05.

Best greetings from Scotland's nicest holiday island.
Kubuntu 18.04, 64 bits, Nvidia 4800GS, 8MB Ram, 4 core, HP Monitor 2550 x 1600 pixels.

I personally have found unetbootin to be very unreliable with Ubuntu based iso in recent times, though I have not used it in about a year because of it being problematic. That said, it doesn't need to have anything special to create a Neon disk, as it is still Ubuntu in this regard., so you should be able to select Ubuntu or Kubuntu 18.04 as the choice.

There are many alternatives that I find to be extremely reliable for making usb sticks. Etcher.iois one. Also Rosa image writer. Neither of these has ever failed me, and are dead simple to use. There is also Mkusb, which is also reliable, but the interface may be confusing. Then there is dd on the command line, which is not really difficult to use, but I still like my pointy clicky things for some tasks.

mkusb is really easy, offers GUI and CLI and another kind of GUI and a basic CLI. They have a PPA to download/add. You can even make a persistent USB.

dd by itself shouldn't take too long to understand if your USB is ready. 'dd if=theISOuwant2burn.iso of=/dev/sdx', where x is your USB label.

Then the easiest has to be usb-creator-gtk. usb-creator-kde's dialog is broken or something.

I agree that UNetBootin is not a good choice.

Perhaps an alternative for UNetBootin; "Balena-Etcher" I tried this tool on a old Mac Mini (2010)-
and KDEneon was within five minutes rolling.

https://www.balena.io/etcher/ and the KDEneon iso USB you can find here: https://neon.kde.org/download

What's the difference

Kind greetings from The Netherlands
