Booting LiveUSB on Dell XPS 15 9570

Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:51 pm
Hello,

I just got a brand new Dell XPS 15 9570. I'm trying to install KDE Neon on it. I successfully created a LiveUSB, disabled Secure Boot. When I select my thumb drive as a boot device I get a black screen with
Code: Select all
_
in the upper left corner and nothing happens. Any ideas on how to proceed?

If everything You wrote is really a fact,
and You did everything like the instructions
told You regarding how to create a install-USB, then:

---

Check Dell firmware-setup (F2) again.

Especially harddisk-related stuff (EFI-Boot, AHCI-Controller, NVMe etc.)

Maybe, USB-booting is forbidden by admin-settings.

Easiest Test:
Put USB into other machine, and try there, whether it works at all.

Okay: Something else:

Before installing on Dell:
Set POST-Testing to "complete"/"long"/"full" test

Addition:
When Booting from USB (F8 or F12 or similar), there
may be 2 USB-boot entries. Choose the right one.

I have the same exact issue, also on a 9570. It doesn't even get to the bootloader, so there's no way to change any kernel parameters.
