no, the package numbering is a tad weird, my currently installed korganizer says 5.10.3 when asking for the version, but the package says 4:18.12.3. Package numbering can be misleading sometimes...
Edit:by "no" I meant, "not a downgrade", sorry if that was not clear ![]()
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

The 4 with the colon indicates an 'epoch', unrelated to the version. After the colon, is the version of KDE Applications set that Korganizer is part of. The version number in the About is the physical version of Korganizer itself. Clear as mud. Each individual application included in KDE Applications likely has its own internal version like Korganizer does.
So (assuming I have everything correct) : Korganizer 5.10.3 is part of the overall release of KDE Applications, version 19.04. Kubuntu or Neon or whomever names it's package 4:19.04.blah.foo~bar123456 The '4:" epoch is a sort of book keeping thing to make sure that a package is definitely a new version, and I assume that some point in the past this was needed due to some versioning conflicts. i think that even of there is a new version of KDE Applications, if there were no changes to KOrganzer for the release, it would still be 5.10.3, even if the Applications version changes.

The Version-Info:
Here: https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-polic ... -a-package and here: https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-polic ... -f-version is the documented way of how it's supposed to be used. And then there are the less-sysadmin-friendly, less-documented ways used by some other people … Enough said. No more comments. |

Much complicated for me, version of plasma, version of the program, version of the program in Neon. Exit the same numbers, a version of this version of one, at some point the new version of plasma can work without a new version of frameworks, until that moment it was not possible. There are so many update programs, and then I think maybe someone has done something wrong.
I learned and worked for programs and operating systems to serve me, we had our own standards, and every job and programs we did was made to be understood by the child who learned to read and write. I better not ask anything, click yes and do not hurt my head Thanks for the explanations ![]() |
