Recently switched from Kubuntu to Neon. I liked Neon more so far but there is a problem ruining it all.

With Neon, mouse settings page is all different from Kubuntu



By using this, I could select acceleration profile flat and I had no trouble ( assuming this is the reason ) but at Neon , I see no settings to set mouse wheel speed , ok there is a mouse wheel settings you can set lines but it's simply not working. And it annoys me when it scrolls down lightning fast when used mouse wheel, had no such issue at Kubuntu.

Thanks in advance for help and just in case if it makes any difference I use Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse.

Open System Settings>Hardware>Input Devices> in the left column select Mouse>Click on the Advanced tab. You will find a much more detailed set of settings and the bottom one adjusts the scroll speed.

but as I mentioned changing "mouse wheel scroll by" makes no difference at all. I think this new mouse settings lack a " flat / adaptive " option.

If there is a way to get old one or set by console, might work I guess.

im glad this is a newer topic , i'm also without scroll-speed settings, i do not have an advance tab on my mouse settings , is there a way to add/enable it? i have tried different mice and advance tab does not appear ...

also the scroll speed is acceptable on the GUI , "for scrolling thew files / most app's" .. but is Vary slow on my favorite web browser "Chrome" but also is slow in chromium ... a fix would be great ...

its an OLD mouse but iv had it now for over 15 years and is still working grate "afew repairs (wiring / button switch overhaul due to excessive usage ) it was a 16th birthday present

Hi, I also recently switched from Kubuntu (18.04) to KDE Neon 5.18.5, which is now 5.19.1, thanks to the updates (updated through Discover) of the past couple of weeks.

In particular, whenever I wake my laptop (Dell Inspiron 13 7000) from Sleep mode, my mouse wheel scrolling speed becomes extremely slow. I don't seem to have the Advanced Mouse Controls that user 'meowling' posted above. I just have checkboxes for "Left handed mode" and "Press left and right buttons for middle-click", a Pointer speed scrollbar, radio buttons for Acceleration profile, and a checkbox for Invert scroll direction. Nothing more.

To work around this problem, I have to do a complete restart/reboot, after which my mouse wheel scrolling speed is back to a reasonably fast one.

The bug report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403842 posted above says "RESOLVED FIXED"; yet I don't seem to feel that the update to Plasma 5.19.1 solved the problem for me.

I would greatly appreciate advice/help on how to solve this problem so that I don't have to always restart my computer. Thank you very much.

I am now using Plasma 5.19.3 (KDE Neon), but the abovementioned problem still persists. Any temporary workarounds until a bugfix is done? Thanks!

Hello, I am another person that does not have this "Advanced" tab. I am on Plasma 5.18, and switching from Windows is frustrating due to small quirks like this. I have to scroll my mouse wheel quite a bit within every application. Apparently it is fixed on Wayland, but I have an NVIDIA GPU, so I am stuck on X11.

I doubt anyone will read this, but I would appreciate a fix. I have searched, and there aren't any easy solutions.

I have same problem, as protonic, except it happens after I come out of hibernate (I do not use sleep almost at all) - and not every time, but like one of 3 or 4 times. Scrolling with a mouse wheel slows down dramatically. My workaround is, to go back to hibernate, and re-enter again - this always does the trick. Also, I can just wait for about half an hour - and the scroll speed will normalize by itself. Going to sleep mode and wake up, doesn't work. My mouse is Logitech M705, if that matters. This problem terrorizes me for long time now, in Fedora 31, and 32. I was hoping the KDE 5.19 solves it, but - no. So I started suspecting this has smth to do with the mouse driver, and not the desktop manager. But - I have never seen this in Gnome! Well, maybe I just didn't have a chance..

Hi protonic, could you please answer two simple questions - just to verify, how much our two problems have in common?
1. Do you get this effect of slowing the wheel scroll down every time you bring your computer out of sleep mode? (I get it like every 3rd time)
2. If you just wait for like 15-30 min, not even touching mouse and keyboard, just go get yourself a cup of coffee - wouldn't the speed normalize by itself? (it does in my case)

I anyway recently discovered that this mouse scrolling problem is only for my Microsoft Wireless (USB) Mouse 5000. I note that this mouse shares the same USB wireless controller with a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5050.

For a Logitech M100r wired mouse, and a Logitech wireless (USB) Pebble M350 mouse, I just realized that I don't have this post-Sleep scrolling problem.

Another workaround: manually unplug and re-plug my Microsoft Wireless (USB) Mouse 5000 after every Sleep. Quick fix. So even if a KDE software fix doesn't come, I think I've found some acceptable ways to work around my problem

Interesting, it looks somewhat similar, but these still are two different problems, I think.
My mouse is wireless Logitech M705. So I can not unplug it literally, but next time this happens, I will try turning it off/on, and unplugging the dongle. I will report here.

Protonic, you are a genius! Simple pushing the mouse switch back and forth - viola! - the scroll speed is back to normal. I think, this was an initialization issue. I didn't say it before, but now I thing it's worth mentioning: I was turning off the computer power each time by the whole room switch (to power down all the printers, router, table lamps etc). So there probably was a conflict between the MB mouse initialization and the OS one. Switching the mouse off/on fixes this.
P.S. Why didn't I come up with such a simple solution myself?? O_o

Thank you, protonic. This problem has bothered me for the year I've been on KDE. This is the simplest workaround I've yet seen, and it appears to work well.
